Lima Peru!

I arrived in Peru Wednesday morning.  I headed to my hotel, scheduled a city tour for the afternoon, took a shower, took a nap, then walked around the neighborhood.  I also learned the drivers in Lima are crazier then drivers in Brazil.  The City tour was really cool.  They asked if we wanted it in Spanish or English.  The other people on the tour spoke Spanish so I told her to speak slowly and I would ask if I needed something repeated.  I understood about 90% of what she said, which was awesome.  We went to several sites including the Peruvian White House, Congress Building, first Catholic Church in Peru, a Pyramid built by the first civilization in Peru from around 400AD.  The part that will stick out the most from the trip was the tour of Saint Francisco's Cathedral.  It was very large and there was a lot of great detail in art.  The crazy part were that Catacombes.    Directly under the Cathedral, they dug Catacombs and that is where they put the dead for many years.  We went into the Catacombs and there were piles of human bones everywhere.  It was a very weird feeling.  There were remains of tens of thousands of bodies down in the catacombes.
That night I walked around some more and went to a lot of shops.
The second day in Peru was pretty awesome.  I went on a 4 hour cruise to an Island full of Sea Lions.  I arrived at the port around 30 minutes early and my driver told me to be careful.  I was a bit worried by that, but there was a naval officer around and 2 police officers.  One of the police officers spoke to me for a while and then took me to where I needed to go.  People started showing up, and we got on a small wooden boat.  I was kinda worried by how small it was.  Then I realized it was taking us to a bigger boat.  There were people from all over in the boat.  I noticed 3 people speaking English, and as I was about to go sit with them, I heard two ladies speaking Portuguese.  I quickly made friends with 2 Brazilian women that were there for a business conference.  She gave me my favorite compliment by asking me if I was Brazilian.  We had a fun time.  There were some strong waves so I was glad they offered us all motion sickness medicine as we started.  We saw a few Islands right of the coast of Peru, the President's beach house, Penguins swimming, huge jelly fish, and the main event.  Hundreds of sea lions were on a small Islands.  It smelt like a farm.  They were really load too.  The coolest part is we went in the water with them.  We went up to them, and they would come to us.  They would either splash us, growl at us, or touch our feet if we put them in front of them.  The water was freezing, but it was a blast!  It was a really fun trip.  Everyone was laughing at me because I was the first to volunteer to get in the water, and the first to start shivering.  I just kept saying things in Spanish and Portuguese making people laugh.
Overall, Peru was fun.  I stayed in a touristy part of town.  It was nice because it was safe, but lame because nothing was cheap and all the stores sold the same things.  I felt safe most the time.  The drug dealers offered me drugs, but other then that it was normal.  I really enjoyed my 2 days there.
